Why do I need to add my Cpanel credentials at Step 1?

A lot of our free users were struggling because they were not able to properly verify their domain ownership using HTTP or DNS verification methods. For our pro customers, the domain ownership step(step 2) is automatic.
We recently decided to automate the domain verification process for our free users too.
The reason why our plugin asks for your username and password is that if we aren’t able to use cPanel’s command line API to connect to your cPanel and verify your domain ownership. Only in such instances do we ask the user for cPanel credentials so we are able to connect using cPanel’s web API.

Your cPanel username and password are encrypted and stored on your website server. No one else has access to it. You can verify our claims by downloading the plugin and going through the code.
